National Bingo Night to debut in Australia

Australia’s Channel 7 will soon present its most recent and entertaining program: National Bingo Night. This new show will give Australians the chance to play bingo and win big prizes. Away star Tim Campbell will host National Bingo Night and will explain contestants the rules of this bingo game, which comes with a twist.

In each episode, a player will try to win while competing against the studio audience and balls numbered from 1 to 75 will be drawn from a huge bingo sphere.

Online Bingo might be out in Norway

Norwegian Culture Minister Trond Giske said that the Oslo government is “working to introduce legislation that would ban online gambling.” According to Giske, the new law would work along the lines of the U.S. Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

A strong opponent of online gambling, Giske often cites the risks problem gamblers often face. In 2006 he worked hard to ban all slot machines and almost got it. The final agreement was that all slot machines would now be government-run and less aggressive than the ones used before.

Astrologer to host a new Bingo game

A new online bingo game, which combines a mixture of lottery and online bingo designed to capture players’ imaginations, is about to be launched in the UK. As an original characteristic it has been announced that it will be hosted by Russell Grant, a famous UK astrologer.

The new game will be launched by Foxy Bingo in September and it will be called “Russell’s Lucky Stars”. There are plans for a TV commercial to promote the online bingo brand and the novel game and it will be starred by Katie Price, who has been the face of Foxy Bingo since the beginning of 2007.

Gateshead, a town located in North-East England on the southern bank of the River Tyne has been designated as the luckiest bingo town in the past year.

Gala Bingo profits increase despite smoking ban

Gala Coral, one of the most important bingo and gaming operators in the UK, announced in a press release that its bingo profits increased £4.4 million to £128 million in one year. This period includes six months since the smoking ban came into effect in Scotland.

The company also informed that, mainly due to the purchase of the Scottish bingo chain County, admissions at its clubs also increased. However, a spokesperson for Gala Coral explained that attendance had been partially affected by the smoking ban introduced in Scotland in March 2006.

“The win is lovely", says an English grandma after hitting the bingo jackpot and taking home a total prize of 20,000 euros this week. Although her name was not revealed, the authorities of the bingo club said that she is a 73-year-old pensioner from the city of Kettering, England.

Luck struck this woman by surprise at her local bingo hall, the Gala Club in Kettering. She declared: "I was so embarrassed when I was told I had won as everybody was looking at me," she said, “however, the win is lovely."
