Mexican TV station to open 65 bingo halls

Televisa, one of the most popular TV stations in Mexico is about to open 65 bingo halls in the country under the name of Play City. The news was announced by Alfonso de Angoitia, president of Televisas’s financial committee in a meeting he had this week with Mexican financial analysts.

de Agoitia also said that his company is very interested in developing the gambling business in the country and that they have committed to do whatever it takes to formalize the gambling market in Mexico. 60 million dollars have been already invested in the project.

First electronic bingo hall in the UK

Riva Gaming Group has introduced a new concept for London bingo fans to try out. This week, the bingo operator opened the first fully electronic bingo hall in the UK, which offers 582 personal hand-held bingo terminals. These new machines are intended to replace traditional paper bingo tickets.

“Riva is at the forefront of bingo technology and product development,” Simon Hannah, CEO of Riva, said. “We are operating in a challenging environment but we believe there is still plenty of room for growth for operators who provide unique and exciting facilities.”

Gala Coral to close several bingo clubs

Gala Coral authorities have announced that the company will probably close twelve or thirteen of its bingo rooms provided the smoking ban that comes into effect on July 1st, has the same devastating effects it had over bingo rooms in Scotland. Gala Coral is the UK’s biggest bingo operator.

“The closures will not occur until the end of the year when I believe it will be easier to judge the conditions in the market. After that period I believe the market will begin to pick up” Neil Goulden, Chief Executive for Gala Coral said.

Protests cannot get too loud

The Justice Court in the Basque Country has established that the rights of gathering and manifestation have a limitation in the municipal regulations that set the maximum level of authorized noise. Therefore, people can scream and protest but within a certain limit.

What motivated this verdict of the Superior Court, were the demonstrations organized by the union last April, two per week took place in front of a Bingo room in Bilbao, demanding several working improvements.
