Bingo Grandfather Banned for Shouting Too Loud

A grandfather today told how he had been banned from his local bingo hall because he shouts too loud when his numbers come up.

Managers at the Mecca bingo hall in Stevenage, Herts, have barred 57-year-old John Wells for a month after receiving complaints from other players about the noise he makes.

Mr Wells, who runs a coach company and has been playing bingo for 25 years, said the ban was “ridiculous”.

Bingo halls unite to raise money for tsunami fund

An Ulster-based bingo company will hold a record-breaking game to raise money for victims of the tsunami.

Lucky's Bingo Group's 11 halls - based throughout Northern Ireland - will unite tomorrow night to take part in what promises to be the largest event of its kind in the province.

The charity event boasts a £10,000 payout, and will be supported by major bingo halls including Empire, Strand and Westway.

Two charged with stealing bingo proceeds, computer

Both were charged with theft, criminal conspiracy, burglary, criminal trespass, possession of instruments of crime (screwdrivers), filing a false police report and receiving stolen property.

Preliminary hearings for Klingensmith and Ballantine are scheduled for March 8 in Central Court in Chambersburg, Pa. Both are free on $15,000 bond.

They are charged with taking money from the profits of the bingo games on nine occasions between Aug. 15, 2004, and Oct. 24, 2004, court records said.

Gambling chief pulls out of Labour funding

A millionaire businessman behind a casino empire is to end his donations to the Labour Party.

Duncan Bannatyne, who was at the centre of controversy over the Government's plans for " supercasinos", attacked Labour for "caving in" to critics of the plans.

But he insisted he was ending his donations because of the war in Iraq, saying he was so appalled by the suffering of the Iraqi people he would not give any more money to Labour.

Nine Thais arrested for cheating in Cambodian casino

SA KAEW, Jan 18 (TNA) - Local officials at a Thai-Cambodian checkpoint in Thailand's eastern province of SaKaew have proposed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to seek diplomatic links to rescue nine Thais who have been under Cambodian police custody for allegedly cheating in casino gambling.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Dusit Krueyai, head of the Thai-Cambodian coordination center in the province's Aranyaprathet District, said the nine were handed over to Cambodian police for investigation after they were apprehended by staff of the Cambodian Star Vegas Casino in Poi Pet.

Allows Bingo Slot Machines at Indian Casino

A major California Indian tribe aiming to expand its casino has agreed to swap out controversial gambling machines for less lucrative devices, averting a lawsuit threatened by Gov.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, both sides said on Tuesday.

"The tribe would have been at risk of losing everything for a single game," said George Forman, an attorney for the Morongo Band of Mission Indians.

At least one video bingo joint, though, in Gillette continued operations Thursday after a court ruling came down the previous day that determined the game is illegal.

Bill to expand gambling seems to be a good bet

A year ago, Gov. Tim Pawlenty announced in his State of the State message that it was time for Minnesota to get a "better deal" from the state's big Indian casino industry.

But after months of on-again, off-again negotiations with tribal leaders, Pawlenty has made little progress toward persuading tribes to give the state $350 million a year from their gambling earnings.

New Land Based Casinos Slated For New York

Brigadiers lose their gaming licenses for a year

The New York State Racing and Wagering Board on Thursday revoked the charitable gaming licenses of the Syracuse Brigadiers for a year, shutting down the multimillion-dollar bingo operation that supports a drum and bugle corps with five national championships over the past eight years.

The two members of the board said during their ruling in Albany they concurred with a hearing officer who concluded the Brigadiers were guilty of all 28 charges of charitable gaming rules violations brought against them.
