A man from Shepparton, central Victoria, who wishes to remain anonymous, won $15 million thanks to a spontaneous decision to put an entry in Powerball. The lucky player is in his 50s and lives with his wife and children.

“I went into the Shepparton Lotto shop to buy a ticket in last Tuesday's Super 7s OZ Lotto, because it had a record prize, and when I saw the Powerball prize was $15 million, I decided to also have a go at that”, the man told lottery officials.

The man found out he had won the $15 million jackpot when he asked a lottery employee to check his ticket. “The girl who served me probably thought my reaction was a bit funny as I put my hand on the ticket and said: 'That's good, I might go and have a party tonight'”, the man explained.

The lucky player said that he is planning to buy a new car and a boat with his newfound wealth and invest the rest of the money.
